Prayer Force United is an organization of pastors, city leaders and intercessors from local churches providing a covering of prayer over the cities of Birmingham and Opelika.
In coordination with Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper, Prayer Force United conducts monthly prayer walks and corporate prayer meetings in areas of Birmingham that have been affected by crime.
Each month the prayer event takes place in a different area of the city and will be hosted by a church in that community. Prayer Force United is joining with the churches and good neighbors in those communities to pray with and for them. Prayer Force United is made up of a growing number of local churches.
The prayer walks are mapped out on specific city streets with teams fanning out into the community. Police escorts are provided along each route. A corporate prayer meeting following the prayer walk is held at the host church. Following each prayer walk and corporate prayer meeting fellowship and a complimentary lunch are provided to nurture friendships between pastors, intercessors, and city leaders. Events generally take place the third Saturday of each month.
Because the hope of the world is the local church, Prayer Force United leaders will train and equip pastors and intercessors in the local church to develop dynamic prayer ministries in their churches so that they can effectively cover their communities with prayer for the lost and spiritual protection from darkness. Resources will be shared that will assist churches in forming relationships between pastors and intercessors in the local churches so that church leaders will be covered well spiritually. Other ministry opportunities and resources will be made available for the healing and restoration of believers in the churches. God has provided unique vision to each pastor and called each local church to be successful in ministering to the people in the communities surrounding their church. Strategic Prayer by the believers of each local church is an important part of their success.
“You are to help your brothers until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise.”Joshua 1:14-15
